THE SLINGER A Sleeping Giant...awakened by the darkness which surrounds and binds through fear unimaginable. Seeking to reap the vast populous blinded by deception the Slinger moves swiftly as time is not his friend. Another hot day. Not summer though, just radiation from the factories which surround...well...just about everything these days. "Damn this heat!" You hear that just about every 5 min 'round here. "Seems like those factories only want to produce heat." Nobody really knows what goes on in those places. Those who work there also live there. You never see any body come or go. All of that is about to change. Slim couldn't wait to get home. Back to that sleepy town. It has been about 20 years since he had been back to the place where he grew from a boy to a man. It seemed like only yesterday he was climbing trees, swimming at the local watering hole and well just running a muck. He couldn't wait to return, the last 20 years had worn him into callous man. All good memories had been clouded by pain and the bad memories......well let's just say he had seen his share of the shit. Sometimes it even hurt him to smile. Arriving home, Slim notices the lawn has been let go. All those torturous summer days mowing and in the fall, raking, was all for nothing. Once his father passed away the lawn was no longer important to his mother. She had lost her will to take care of anything in her life since his father had died. Now with her failing health, her dying wish is to see her son once again. But it's been so long. Slim enters the house, memories flooding back like someone has a video on fast forward. He can smell his mother. Not a foul elderly smell but that of dandelions. His approach slowed as he neared her bedroom. All those times she pathched him up when he got hurt and all of those windy,thundery nights he hid under her blankets, this was the place he would run to for comfort. The door squeaked as he gently opened it. "Slim?" "Is that you?" "MmmHmm" Slim Whispered. "Come here. Hold my hand." --------------------------------- So many regrets.... Rain..."It's been a while since we had a good rain. Mostly just git pissed on." Slim overhears the crowd as they gather for her funeral. "She was a nice lady, would've given you the shirt off her back." Slim looked up to see who was speaking. Somehow the voice was familiar. The man stood tall, dressed in a long coat and a short brimmed hat. Slim struggled to make out who it was."Been a while...you look like her you know?" "I've heard,Do I know you? " Slim replied...

-posted June 28,2006- The word is spreading and it is thanks to all of you who show up and shout for us and to those of you who bought a shirt or a CD or even a keychain or magnet. We will be making more shirts so be patient. We will soon be posting pics from some of our shows as well as pics from some of our parties. A special Thank You to all of those who party with us- There is more to come. We are currently working on our second release. Soon enough a demo will be up for you all to listen to. We would like to introduce the newest member of H.S. Jacob. We know that he will make a great addition to our group. We are also working on new material for a new album. As usual we are keeping it to ourselves, but if you go to every show you will definitely be one of the first to hear new shit. Well I am pretty sure that a lot of you heard about our tragedy. A lot of you responded with kind words and support for the band, some of you even stepped forward to volunteer your time for a benifit show. Well the time is drawing nearer to put up or shut up. We are currently organizing a benifit to take place in the upcoming months, so leave your calanders open as the announcement will be made in the next few weeks. As usual thank you for all of your support. Just remember all of you who care about us keep us going. -posted Nov 18,2005- Well the battle of the bands we entered was a flop. Where the hell are all of the heads at? Well as usual we lost, just by 4 votes. It would be nice to see all of you at the next show. We will be playing a show to commemorate the untimely death of Dimebag Darrell. I hope you will all consider being there as there will be a night of Pantera covers performed by each band. Thanks for all your support -posted Aug 27,2005- There was a show last night. We headlined a show at The Bum Steer. We would like to thank all who were there even though there wasn't much preparation. Thanks to all who were there and also to those who stayed to watch. It would be nice to see that kind of support more often. Thanks to Genocaust for calling us out to play with them. They opened up with one hell of a death metal set. We will be playing again with those guys in October, so keep an eye out for more info about shows and other information about the band. -posted Aug 18, 2005- We had a blast !!! Demolition Pit was amazing. They will be back. We had an amazing set and once again free beer was available. Chemical Imbalance rounded out the night and afterwards we partied the night away. There was a warm smell in the air and a beer bong being passed around. Keep an eye out for more shows. -posted June26, 2005- WOW!!! If you missed out on the show you missed out. We had more people than expected stay to watch us rip up the Rock. We would like to say a special thank you to the lead singer from Motor Stone. Without him we couldn't even bring the shred to a head. He was cool enough to lend us a guitar when ours took a shit. We would also like to say thank you to 'Nico' for allowing us to jam once more at a place that we all love to perform at. Thank you to all of you who bought tickets(even though some of you didn't show up to shout for us) so that we could play. On a whole different page. Thank you to everyone who helped us drink the keg of Budweiser-The King of Beers(Cheap Plug Ha Ha). We hope that next time all who purchased tickets will join us in tossing back a few. If you can't make it to the show then buy a ticket in support. -posted June 5, 2005- Head Sling wishes to thank all who attended the show last night. Nothing in Regret opened up with an awesome set. Rounding out the night was History Of... from Bayfield ,CO. It Was a good night for music but as far as local support it was nill to none. We hope to see more of you at the upcoming shows. Until then keep it real and save up $5 for the next show we have. G.T. -posted May 14,2005- We had a great show last night. It is an amazing feeling knowing that even though our supposed fans/friends didn't show up we were given a great response. The other bands that played were Third Round Chambered, and Flesh Factor. All in all it was a good night, there were even fisticuffs exchanged towards the end of the night. Be ready for the June 4th show at Rock 'm Billiards. Sigjning Off -G.T.- -posted Mar 25,2005- Head Sling will be assembling a street team to aid in the promotion of the band. The selected street team members will recieve free merchandise, hot off the press and will be admitted into shows for free. Members will also be featured on thieir own web page. There are limited slots available for the street team and only dedicated members will retain their slot. Also there will be private parties/barbecues for the street team compliments of Head Sling. G.T. -Feb. 8, 2005- Head Sling left for Dallas. -Feb. 9,2005 11:30am- Head Sling breaks down in one of the most desolate towns in Texas, Pecos. We had more oil leaking out the engine than we can keep in. We inevitably came to the realization that we would need repairs. Without much money it would be tough to have enough for gas to and back from Dallas.Things didn't get any easier, we now had to find a mechanic shop. We pulled up at the first gas station we could find and asked for directions to the local fix-it shop. When we got to the shop we asked the local gearhead if he could fix our truck. He responded by telling us that there was no way he could get to our vehicle for at least 5 days. He then directed us to the town of Monahans. -12:00pm- We arrive in the town of Monahans only to find more of the same old stuff. Run down houses and junk cars one store and a whole slew of brother's, cousin's, sister's, friend's who knows a mechanic. We were stuck without knowledge of our surroundings and time was ticking away. We had to get to Dallas, going back wasn't an option. -1:00pm- West Star Autoplex. Monahan's, TX 79756 (432)943-4316 The niceest most patient bunch of people anyone could ever hope to meet while in the position we were in. We walk up to the front counter to describe our situation. The first person we meet is David Carrasco th Service Advisor. He's surprised to see an 81 ChevyPickup. "We've got to go way back in the book for this one," he stated. We got the idea that the truck we were traveling in was to old to find parts for is such an isolated town. -2:00pm- The shop has located parts after what seems like a wild goose chase. The next thing we had to do was wait for the only mechanic who does the work on older vehicles. Jose Rios is the mechanic who got stuck with the daunting task of locating and assessing where the fountain of oil was originating from. Believe me he went the extra mile for us even when he couldn't figure out where the oil was coming from at first. It was tough waiting for the work to be done but we got to stretch our legs and grab a bite to eat. We also contacted home. In the end we all had to thank Gabe's father for putting the cost of repairs on his credit card.Head Sling was down but not out. We also had fun watching Jose mess with this other mechanic named Clayton. Last we heard he was an ass monkey. -10:30pm- We got back on the road again finally. The folks in Monahans were just the kind of people that we all know exist,but we just rarely get to meet.5 more hours to Dallas. -Feb. 10,2005 4:00am- Head Sling is in Dallas. At night this city is beautiful and all lit up. It is an awesome sight. These buildings are so tall. We all got goosebumps just knowing that we had finally arrived, we had finally stepped out from the usual confines of Tucson. Not many bands get to do this sort of thing, we were proud to be there representing all of The Tucson Local Scene and those of you who wish you could be there with us. We were tired from the trip so we all decided to get some rest . We ended up at the Motel 6 in Fort Worth and we crashed hard. -Feb 10,2005 The first day of the festival- There has been some ongoing confusion about whether or not we were supposed to play Club Indigo like we were told or The Gypsy Tea Room. In the end this will screw up all of our well thought out plans. We promoted all of Thursday night, handing out flyers and free stickers. We also placed stickers on everything that we could see. While promoting we came upon a coffee house with a sign out front 'Open Mic Night'. We didn't have anything going on that night so we decided to play a set just to polsih up before our show the next night. Not to mention it was an opprotunity to sell merch and to put out a tip jar. We blew people's minds and also made an impression on the owner and her son. The owner of Insomnia Coffee House is a very kind and gentle woman often referred to as 'MOM'. She purchased this place for her son Casey so that he would have something to call his own.She has had a tough life and would like to make things a little easier for her son than she had. They invited us back to do 2 sets on the next night. In the end this would prove to be one of one of the best experiences we had on this trip. -Feb. 11,2005 The Night Of The Show- At about 12:30pm we ran into a couple of graffitti artists and had them tag our logo and website info on a local wall. Pictures of this will be available on the photos page. We showed up at Club Indigo at about 4:30pm. There was still some confusion about our 8:00 slot and whether or not we are supposed to play at Indigo or The Gypsy Tea Room. All of the flyers that we had placed everywhere were taken down by the Ellum cleanup crew. So we did what any hard working band would do. We went to Kinko's to make 500 extra flyers. Little did we know that this would be a waste of time and a waste of money. -6:00pm- We found the promoter and asked whether or not we were to play Indigo or The Tea Room. We stated that we had already promoted for Indigo. According to the promoter we had to play the Tea Room. There wasn't any changes being made. We were extremely let down.So it was off to Insomnia Coffee Cafe to play for MOM and Casey, then to The Gypsy Tea Room. -9:00pm Insomnia Coffee Cafe- A small crowd had formed in anticipation of a band from Tucson. Word gets around quick in this part of town. These peolpe loved us, and they showed their appreciation by tipping and purchasing merch. After our first set we sat down and enjoyed complimentary sandwiches and coffee, provided by MOM. That was the best we ate the whole trip. A traveling sketch artistwas walking past and decided to sketch a picture of Gabe using only a ball point pen. Stanley The Skech Artist was his name. You may view his work on the photos page. We went back in and played another set before heading out to The Gypsy Tea Room. I think that MOM and Casey pulled in some business that night because they tipped us $40. In all we made $130.00 in tips and in merch that night. Thank God for The Insomnia Coffe Cafe. -1:00am The Gypsy Tea Room- We set up and got ready to play (following a reggae band). Needless to say we scared all but a few dedicated metal heads. We played our asses off, putting on a high energy show for those who stayed around. It seem that emo is the brand of music most loved in The Tea Room and in most of Ellum. It was cool playing on a stage that some of our greatest infleuences had played on. Two new fans invited us back to their place where we spent the next two nights. Thanks to Robert and Aubrey we hope you get to read this. -Feb. 12,2005 12:00pm- We went to meet industry reps at a meet and greet set up by the promotional company. We got to meet producers, labels, press people and other bands such as Drowning Pool. For most of the day we just hopped from club to club checking out music and meeting people. We couldn't wait to see Drowning Pool play and by 7:00pm it was almost impossible to get into the club. -11:00pm- Upon entering the club you could feel the energy it was as if something magical was about to take place. While hanging around we met up with a guy who has been on the road crew for Pantera in the past. This trip was about to get really good. He pulled us aside and told us that Vinnie Paul was sitting in the back behind the sound booth. I personally could not describe how I felt. It was as if this was a planned arrangement. I asked the ex-roadie if he would introduce me and he told me to introduce myself. So without hesitation and with the rest of the guys behind me we walked over to meet Vinnie. He was sitting there with his cowboy hat on, and a drunk guy in his face. I called out to him, he turned and looked right at me and asked me "what's up buddy?" I told him that all of us cried along with him the day that DIME passed. He grabbed my hand and looked as if he was going to cry. I told him that we were here from Tucson to give him a sweater, and that we were going to give it to him at his club "THE CLUBHOUSE"(located on 30 north to Manana Exit then left on Goodnight). He reached over to his head of security, still holding my hand, and asked him for a V.I.P. pass. He was all out. Next thing I know Vinnie pulls out a business card and personally signed an invitation for Head Sling to go to his club free of charge. I was speechless. -1:00am- Drowning Pool had put on a killer show. The evening was going great. Now it is time to go and meet Vinnie. Getting into THE CLUBHOUSE was no problem. We sat down and absorbed all there was to see. All the while keeping an eye out for Vinnie. When we noticed him we all walked over. "Hey, you guys made it!" he said. It was as if he was waiting for us. Vinnie signed all of our V.I.P. passes and we gave him our merch and also a demo. We sat in his section drinking his friend's beer in awe as to what just occurred. Soon after that he left to go cook fajitas. He greeted us as he left and told us thanks for coming to see him. He told us to come back anytime, and that was that. Jan. 19, 2005- This is the story of a little bitch, one of many. He is most commonly referred to as Mikey B. Well we know what the B stands for," Bitch". How many other motherfuckers would trade the opprotunity to showcase thier talent for a drunken, tweaked out, worn out, ex-con. Not anyone with a small part of their brain working. Well it seems that brainless drones actually live among us. Just 3 weeks away from a mini tour to Dallas, TX this egotist had to do the unthinkable....he quits! Just like that.It was a shock to us that he'd quit before such an important event but at the same time he was on the way out. The little idiot was so self absorbed that he thought we would bend and grovel at his feet and beg him to stay, but at that point all we wanted to do was maim him. You see he thought that he was central to the H.S. sound and without him we were nothing. He was constantly missing practice to go fishing, tweak out and to screw around with illegal age girls. (this guy is 20 yrs old and he preys on the minds and bodies of 15-17 yr old little girls). Not to mention the brainless wonder is a cleptomaniac. He steals without remorse taking bobby pins, rolling papers and various other trinkets much like his cousin the rat. He lives at home with his single dad (who was left behind by Mikey's mom for a real lover, a woman.. ha ha ha. He should have licked it). So therefore you can see that the rotten apple doesn't fall to far from the rotten apple tree. One more thing, if you ever run into this rodent on the street don't hesitate to set out some cheese on a trap or just step on this guy with you boot. Without people like this who just poison the air with their shitty breath, poison the minds of the young and sell poison to so called 'homies' the world as we know it would be a little easier to breath in. A last word to all of you wastes out there. Stay on the path your going and you will end up like Mikey B.,alone, nameless, broke, tweaked, toothless, single, and diseased with a lesbian for a mom or an ex-wife. Signing off-G.T. -Jan. 13 2005 I don't know how many of you know this but 'The Squeal' has only been in the band for about 3 months. I will first mention that he scared off our old 'guitar player' by shredding him to pieces. Not to mention the vegan had him out partied in the first 5 minutes. Now I'm not going to deny that the 'lethal'(ha!) guy that used to hang around us could play the guitar. What I am saying is that compared to 'the squeal' all he was doing was playing. Well anyways he left, emotionally distraught, dragging his ego behind him, and he never called or showed up again. Rumor has it that Head Sling partied too much for him and that going to practice was too far (even though the clown had been driving there for over a year). Here's the truth as we see it. The dude had issues with committment, as well as a healthy dose of writers block. Since we started this band it has always been difficult to seperate the musicians from the posers. We found out that there are more posers, guys with long hair and a guitar and talent...wasted talent. In the process of posing guys/girls like this end up bringing the creative process to almost a halt. Well enough free space wasted on losers, and to all of those who's emotions are hurt by this oh well. Take a Paxil, a Prozac, drink a gallon of whiskey and leave the rest of us to our existence while you wallow in your own non-existence. H.S> -Jan. 11 2005 Mikey B. just celebrated his 20th birthday. So if you happen to run into him make sure to slap him on the ass 20+ times. December 31st 2004- Head Sling will play a New Year's party with Sanity in Death and Fevered Dreams Admission is $5 In advance $7 at the door Head Sling will be throwing a benifit show to raise money to get out of Tucson. Bags of Ramen will be greatly appreciated as well as any donations. This show will be announced at a later date . All donations will be used towards our first mini tour. Check back regularly for news updates or e-mail us for information on how to make a donation. We would also like to thank all of the dedicated fans and bands who have put up with all of our shit over the years and also all of those that spiked our drinks and treated us like V.I.P's. Thanks to Butch for letting us party out at his house and for all of the choice meats that Vinny has supplied in the past. We would also like to thank all of the haters and all people who talk shit. Without you we wouldn't have the inspiration to write songs about the fucked up, senseless lives you people lead.
